Moonbound ("we", "us") is operated from South Africa. This policy explains how we handle your personal information and applies to readers worldwide. We follow South Africa's POPIA and, for users in the EU/UK, the GDPR.

1. Information we collect

  • Account: your email address and password.
  • Reading activity: the books and chapters you open and your reading progress.
  • Purchases: when you buy coins or unlock content, payment is handled by our third-party payment provider — we do not see or store your full card details.
  • Technical: device/browser type, IP address, and basic usage analytics via cookies or similar.
  • Age confirmation: a record that you confirmed you are 18 or older.

2. Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • To provide the service and save your progress (our contract with you).
  • To process your purchases (contract).
  • To keep Moonbound secure and to improve it (our legitimate interests).
  • For optional analytics or marketing where required, with your consent.

3. Who we share it with

Our hosting/database provider, payment processor, and analytics providers — only as needed to run Moonbound. We do not sell your personal information.

4. International transfers

We operate from South Africa and use providers in other countries, so your data may be processed outside your country. We take reasonable steps to protect it.

5. How long we keep it

While your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for legal or operational reasons. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.

6. Your rights

  • POPIA (South Africa): you may complain to the Information Regulator. GDPR (EU/UK): you may complain to your local data-protection authority.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure.

8. Children

Moonbound is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Cookies

We use cookies/local storage to keep you signed in, remember your age confirmation and preferences, and measure usage.
